DUCS to perform new Ben Rowarth work

An exciting bit of news landed in my in-box on Friday evening: the next Durham University Choral Society concert will include the first performance of a new commissioned work by recent Durham graduate Ben Rowarth. It’s called “Christus: A Passion Sequence” and is for chorus and soloists, accompanied by strings and harp.  It sounds as if it’s a big piece – the only other work in the concert is Mozart’s Requiem – and I can’t wait to hear it. It’s on 15 March in Durham Cathedral, and I’ll be previewing it in more detail nearer the time. Concert information can found in here in my events diary and again, this will be updated when I get more details.
