Music in Durham

Orlando Consort: Guillaume Guillaume

The Orlando Consort were in Durham this week for their annual residency and Musicon concert - I reviewed them for Bachtrack

Earlier this week, I had my annual treat of reviewing the Orlando Consort, for Bachtrack. It’s always a pleasure to go to their concerts their performance and presentation style adds so much to the music itself. They take turns to talk between pieces, and do so with both erudition and charm, and they always welcome the audience to chat to them after the concert. The full review is here.

One thing I didn’t manage to get into the review (because I hit my word limit rather than any intentional omission) was that after the concert, Donald Grieg pointed me to this website machaut.exeter.ac.uk – it’s part of an ongoing research project at Exeter on Machaut’s work, and has a massive amount of information about Machaut’s music, along with facsimilies, scores and sound files.
