Classical Brass with Alison Gill

Sat 11 May , 7:30 pm

| £7

Fishburn Band, conducted by Lewis Wilkinson join forces with acclaimed professional pianist Alison Gill to perform the evocative and romantic Piano Concertante for piano and brass band by Sunderland-born composer Edward Gregson. Written in 1966, whilst a student at the Royal Academy of Music in London, it was the first major work to be written for this combination.

Also on the programme is music by George Gershwin, Enrique Granados and performance of the Edvard Grieg’s Peer Gynt Suite No. 1, which includes the famous ‘Morning’ and ‘In the Hall of the Mountain King’. Part of this suite has been specifically transcribed for this concert by Brass at Ushaw’s artistic director Steve Robson.
