Bach: Christmas Oratorio

Bach’s great celebration of the Christmas story consists of a set of cantatas for the services immediately following Christmas, telling about the birth of Christ and the visits of the shepherds and the magi, all told with Bach’s dazzling inventiveness in chorus, chorale, solo and instrumental writing. In this performance on the Eve of the Feast of Epiphany, the Durham Singers perform Cantatas I, II, IV and VI.
