Allegri: Miserere Mei
A programme for Passiontide including works by some of the greatest composers of the Renaissance, that uses music to tell the story of the events leading up to Christ’s crucifixion, and the anguish of the night he spent watching in the Garden of Gethsemane. The concert ends with Allegri’s haunting Miserere Mei, a piece that was originally performed only at the end of Holy Week services in the Sistine Chapel, and which has now escaped its narrow confines to become one of the best-known pieces of classical choral music.
Tickets: £12, students and under 25s: £8, available online via the link or from Durham Music Shop (Added Brass), Front Street, Langley Moor, or from choir members. To reserve on the door, contact the choir via 0779 0148062 / email@example.com
