No-one should ever miss a concert because they didn’t know it was happening
Thu 27 Feb - Sat 29 Feb| £8
Tchaikovsky’s opera Eugene Onegin, is a set of ‘lyrical scenes’ drawn from Pushkin’s poem about a dissolute young aristocratic. Onegin thinks he has it all, but is bored by his life of pleasure. He toys with the affections of sisters Tatyana and Olga and betrays his friend Lensky. He finally realises where he can find happiness, but is it too late? Tchaikovsky’s music draws on the strong emotions that bubble under the surface of Pushkin’s elegant poetry, to devastating effect.
