Italian madrigals by Monteverdi, Gesualdo, Marenzio, Sciarrino and Egan
As part of the 2019 Durham Vocal Festival, and supported by the Radcliffe Trust, the MUSICON concert series present the acclaimed vocal ensemble EXAUDI, who return to Durham with a scintillating programme of Italian madrigals. Their programme combines the madrigals of three Italian masters Marenzio, Monteverdi and Gesualdo with contemporary responses to this musical tradition with Salvatore Sciarrino’s breathtaking settings of Matsuo Bashō and a new commission from Eric Egan.
A pre-concert talk with composer Eric Egan and EXAUDI director James Weeks will take place in the Music Department Lecture Room at 6.00pm.
