Everything Starts Elsewhere refers to a text by Argentinian poet Roberto Juarroz used for one of the pieces of this programme, but also to the creative transmission of music from the composer’s mind, to the printed score, to the performance, to the audience’s interpretation, and to the transitory nature of this music – created on one side of the Channel, in France, and performed on the other.
This concert is presented by Durham KLANG, which aims to present engaging, well crafted, and bold new music, from the North East and beyond. All KLANG concerts are free of charge. No booking required.
This project is possible thanks to Diaphonique, Franco-British fund for contemporary music in partnership with the Institut français du Royaume-Uni, the Sacem, the British Council, the French Ministry of Culture, the Bureau Export, the Institut français and the Friends of the French Institute Trust, and Spedidam
