Orchestra North East at the Gala

Sun 22 Apr , 3:00 pm

| £16

Emilie Mayer: Faust Overture, opus 46.
Rachmaninov: Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini (Murrary McLachlan, piano)
Antonin Dvořák: Symphony No.6

Conductor: Monica Buckland.

Working with conductor Monica Buckland, Orchestra North East have selected a programme of entirely new repertoire for their Spring 2018 Gala concert. Rachmaninov’s famous Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini needs little introduction, but the Faust Overture by the German nineteenth century composer Emilie Mayer has never been commercially recorded, and the orchestra believe this may be the first UK performance of the work. Dvořák’s melodious Sixth Symphony is another hidden gem, less well known than his later symphonies, but sharing many characteristics with them.
