Recorder Fringe Festival
Sat 13 Apr - Sun 14 Apr
Come and experience recorder playing as you’ve never seen it before as Ushaw College hosts the Society of Recorder Players National Festival over two days in April.
Rising stars of the recorder world will be giving free pop-up concerts around the college, with players including Charlotte Barbour-Condini and Sophie Westbrooke, the only two recorder players ever to make it to the finals of BBC Young Musician of the Year, and BBC Young Musician Jazz finalist Tom Ridout.
In addition to the Fringe Festival, visitors to the college can watch public masterclasses with Piers Adams and Joris van Goethem and see the exciting young consort group BLOCK4 performing shortlisted pieces in the finals of a new recorder composition competition to be judged by Jonathan Dove. Visitors can also browse the stalls of music and instrument sellers, including the Early Music Shop.
Normal admission fees to Ushaw apply.
