Ushaw Jazz festival: day 2

Another varied day of jazz at Ushaw College. Book individual events, or purchase festival day passes for £15, all available from the weblink below.
1pm: Emma Fisk and James Birkett
This acclaimed duo, channelling the vibes of Reinhardt and Grappelli, are preparing a new album, and will perform old songs and new material in their set at Ushaw.
4pm: Francis Tulip Band
Guitarist Francis Tulip is an alumni of the Early Bird Band, and with his backing group will perform music inspired by Coltrane and Shorter.
6pm: Graeme Wilson and Paul Edis – the music of TS Monk
Paul Edis and Saxophonist Graeme Wilson team up to provide a relaxing afternoon of classic be-bop, sure to entertain fans of Monk and to provide an excellent introduction to those who have never experienced his music.
8pm: The Buck Clayton Legacy Band
Music from the golden era of jazz from a band inspired by the legendary trumpeter who played alongside Billie Holiday for many years, and Lady J, one of the UK’s foremost interpreter’s of Holiday’s music.
10.15pm: Jam session with Paul Edis
Paul Edis teams up with other musicians taking part in the Ushaw Jazz festival for an improvised jam session – come along and see what’s going on. Admission FREE
