David Lang: The Little Match Girl Passion

Durham University Chamber Choir perform Passiontide music thematically linked by symbolism of the flame and enduring love. Edmund Rubbra’s settings of the Tenebrae texts for Mattins on Maundy Thursday are performed alongside David Lang’s passion which uses Hans Christian Anderson’s story as an allegory for Christ’s death. These two works are bookended with music by William Drakett and Jake Runestad.
