Rosa Mystica: A Human Re-Portraiture of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
Durham University Chamber Choir’s Michaelmas term concert, directed by Matthew McCullough, explores the human elements of the nativity story; aspects of fear, pain, and despair alongside the more traditional themes of joy, excitement, and salvation through Mary’s symbolic connection with the rose. The programme then moves to a retelling of the Christmas story through music from the 21st century, incorporating the full range of human emotion.
