La Nativité du Seigneur
One of the most extraordinary organ works of the 20th century, La Nativité du Seigneur by Olivier Messiaen is a nine-movement meditation on the birth of Christ. It is a piece full of wonder and suffused with colour that shows off the force and the rich tonal variety of Durham Cathedral’s mighty Harrison and Harrison organ. The cathedral’s organists traditionally give a performance of this remarkable piece every year during the Christmas season and it is performed this year by Master of the Choristers and Organist of Durham Daniel Cook
