Oliver Webber (violin) and Steven Devine (harpsichord) from The Monteverdi String Band showcase the diverse musical personalities and virtuoso ornamentation on display at the dawn of the Italian Baroque and add their own embellishments to madrigals and chansons of the period.

Their programme showcases the measured brilliance of dalla Casa and Bassano; the exquisite daring of Ricardo Rognoni; the sensuous fluidity of Bovicelli and the mysterious Carlo G; and the fiery virtuosity of Francesco Rognoni, exploiting technique to the full with trills, runs, varied articulation, dotted rhythms, leaps, and echoes.
