In partnership with Ushaw Organ Weekend, concert organist and renowned improviser Martin Baker continues Durham Cathedral’s summer organ recital series.

Martin Baker was master of music at Westminster Cathedral until 2020. Previous to this he was assistant organist at St Paul’s Cathedral, London and sub-organist at Westminster Abbey. Under his direction, Westminster Cathedral Choir premiered works by major British composers including James MacMillan, Peter Maxwell Davies, Judith Bingham and John Tavener. He is renowned for his his skill in improvisation, blending technical ingenuity and exhilaration – as demonstrated at this year’s BBC Proms when he stood in at the last minute at this year’s Organ Prom.
