Tales and Legends
DUOS Chamber Orchestra give a musical re-telling of some of the greatest tales and legends. Takashi Yoshimatsu’s White Landscapes, is an idyllic and tranquil portrayal of snow and is followed by Fauré’s incidental music (including the famous Sicilienne) for Maeterlinck’s play Pelléas et Mélisande, a tale of mystery, love and jealousy, based on French medieval legends. The orchestra mark the 4ooth anniversary or Shakespeare’s First Folio with Sibelius’ Tempest Suite no.2, full of magic, betrayal, love and forgiveness. The stories end with the intoxicating folk dances of Kodaly’s Dances of Galánta.
