DUCC: The New World

Fri 13 Jun 2014 , 7:30 pm

Durham University Chamber Choir, formed of twenty-two of the university’s finest singers, presents a concert of music inspired by and from the Americas. Music performed will include James MacMillan’s Cantos Sagrados – which mixes texts on political repression in South America with Latin prayers – Eric Whitacre’s
stunning Alleluia, Samuel Barber’s peerless Agnus Dei and a selection of colourful and effervescent music from the South American renaissance and baroque periods. This is a excellent opportunity to hear music which is rarely performed in Durham.
