Musica Antica Rotherhithe give their first concert for MUSICON, presenting cantatas and extracts from operas written for Venice’s public theatres in the mid-seventeenth century, many of which have lain unperformed for over 350 years.
Mezzo-soprano Camilla Seale and countertenor Tristram Cooke have used evidence from surviving payment records from Venetian theatres to create an ensemble that matches the theatre bands of the time, comprising two violins, bass viol, two theorbos, harpsichord and a pentagonal virginal.
Tickets: £10 standard, £5 students, £1 under-18s
