Music in Durham

Orchestra North East at the Gala

Orchestra North East return to the Gala Theatre for an afternoon concert of music that is all new to the orchestra’s repertoire. The concert opens with the beautiful and moving Good Friday Music by Richard Wagner, from his opera Parsifal. Peter Francomb, principal horn of Royal Northern Sinfonia, will then join the orchestra as soloist in the sparkling First Horn Concerto by Richard Strauss, a piece he says is one of his favourites.  Vaughan Williams’ colourful London Symphony will complete the programme, an expressive work evoking the Edwardian city. The programme will conducted by an old friend of the Orchestra, the Swiss-born Philippe Bach.
