An evening of myth, magic and orchestral colour, filled with wonder, escapism and a sparkling, high-spirited conclusion. Schubert’s Entr’acte from Rosamunde Act 1 sets the scene with glowing lyricism, before Luciano Berio’s Rendering reimagines sketches from Schubert’s unfinished Tenth Symphony in a haunting, dreamlike tapestry.

Ravel’s Mother Goose invites listeners into a magical fairytale world of Sleeping Beauty and enchanted gardens and the concert concludes with Offenbach’s Orpheus in the Underworld Overture, which bursts with wit and effervescent energy, culminating in the famous Can-Can.
