Volunteer opportunities at Ushaw College

Ushaw College is looking for volunteers to help with front of house and publicity for an exciting new series of classical, folk and jazz concerts.

Ushaw College is opening its amazing Victorian gothic buildings up to the public, and as part of this project, a major new series of concerts, talks and services is planned for St Cuthbert’s chapel and other spaces, which I’m very excited to be involved in. The college is looking for volunteers for all sorts of things, such as gardening, catering and tour guides, and we also need people to help with the concerts. The sort of things we particularly need help with for the concerts are:

  • Front of house at concerts – ticket sales desk and stewarding.
  • Leaflet distribution around Durham.
  • Entering concert details into online listing databases.

If you’re interested in helping with any of these, or if you have any other skills that you think would be useful, you are invited to join a college tour on Saturday, September 13, at 11am or attend an opening evening on Wednesday, September 17, from 4pm to 7pm. To register, email: info@ushaw.ac.uk or call 07421-035-240

I’m gradually getting the Ushaw jazz and classical concerts listed here, as dates become confirmed. To get an idea of the programme, see www.musicdurham.co.uk/events/tag/ushaw-concerts and keep checking back for updates.

DOE Iolanthe

A healthy dose of silliness and joy in Durham Opera Ensemble’s sparkling production of Gilbert and Sullivan’s Iolanthe.
