Orchestra Cipriani: Victorian rarities

Durham Festival of the Arts 2016

Durham’s second Festival of the Arts, bringing together the university’s leading musical and theatre groups, begins on 3 June with a gala concert in the Cathedral. I’ve picked out a few of my highlights from the wide-ranging list of musical events on their programme.

Orchestra Cipriani: A new musical voice

A bright new voice in Durham’s musical as Orchestra Cipriani, a new chamber orchestra conducted by Lewis Wilkinson gave a well-polished and very enjoyable concert of works by Mendelssoh, Beethoven, Malcolm Arnold and Steve Robson.
